Dangerous Goods Endorsement

The course "Dangerous Goods Endorsement" has finished

When you successfully complete this course you will receive an Endorsement Certificate you can take to NZTA to update your Drivers Licence. The Unit Standards you are successful in passing will be applied to your NZQA Record of Achievement if you achieve the Endorsement Certificate for the Basic Course.

Please note, whilst we are in the Red or Orange Traffic Light System we can only accept fully vaccined drivers on-site and you will need to bring your vaccine passport for scanning.

If you are not vaccinated, please contact us as we may be able to complete training at your site instead.

A cancellation fee may be applicable if students arrive for training with no My Vaccine Pass.

All Dangerous Goods courses include:

   *  Theory Training - if you prefer to do this online - click here

   *  Assessement at our site - closed book theory test for renewals, Open book theory test for basic

   *  DG Pocket Guide

Dangerous Goods Courses (Basic) include:

   *  Dangerous Goods Document Holder - which includes Operators Handbook, Pocket Guide and Emergency Response Form

During COVID restrictions whilst any form of face to face training is carried out (at our site and yours) we will need to:

  • ensure 2m distancing from the instructor and individual students who are not in a company bubble is adhered to (companies can have a 1m distancing restriction);
  • no food or drink is provided;
  • no more than 10 on a course excluding instructors;
  • everyone must be contract traced;
  • facemasks to be worn at all times;
  • where possible gloves to be used to reduce contamination risks;
  • if showing symptoms of being unwell you will be asked to reschedule.

When you successfully complete this course you will be qualified to transport dangerous goods on a public road. 

Transport operators, couriers and others transporting for 'hire or reward' usually need this endorsement. If you are not certain whether you need this, check the information about the Dangerous Goods endorsement here.

Pre-requisites for ALL STUDENTS:

If you have limited English speaking or understanding skills let us know as it may limit your ability to pass this course. If you struggle with reading/writing let us know when booking as we have instructors who can assist with this.

You must hold a NZ Drivers Licence that is either:

  • Learners
  • Restricted
  • Full

Pre-requisites for RENEWAL Drivers:

You must hold a D Endorsement on your NZ Drivers Licence that has not been expired for more than one year.

For the Dangerous Goods Course (Basic) allow:

  • 6 hours theory (if you complete online allow 2 hours instead for assessment)
  • Open book Theory Test

For the Dangerous Goods Renewal Course allow:

  • 1 hour theory
  • Closed book Theory Test
