When you successfully complete this course you will receive a Worksite Competency Certificate for the type of WTR machinery you are competent to drive.  Those with a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence will also receive an Endorsement Certificate you can take to NZTA to update your Drivers Licence.  The Unit Standards you are successful in passing will be applied to your NZQA Record of Achievement if you achieve the Endorsement Certificate.

All courses include:

*  Hi Vis Vest

*  Pre-study manual posted at least one week before training

*  Theory Training - to do this online click here

*  Closed book theory test at our site

*  Daily check of machinery

*  Practical assessment on simulated road for all assessments

BEGINNERS will also receive:

*  1/2 day practical training 

During COVID restrictions whilst any form of face to face training is carried out (at our site and yours) we will need to:

• ensure 2m distancing from the instructor and individual students who are not in a company bubble is adhered to (companies can have a 1m distancing restriction);
• ensure machinery is sanitised between drivers;
• no food or drink is provided;
• no more than 10 on a course excluding instructors;
• everyone must be contract traced;
• facemasks to be worn at all times;
• where possible gloves to be used to reduce contamination risks;
• if showing symptoms of being unwell you will be asked to reschedule.

Pre-requisites for ALL STUDENTS:

No pre-requisites.  If you have limited English speaking or understanding skills please discuss prior to the course as this may limit your ability to complete training successfully.  If you struggle with reading/writing let us know when booking as our instructors can assist with this.

Pre-requisites for EXPERIENCED STUDENTS ONLY:

Those booking under the EXPERIENCED operators course need to be able to drive the machinery they wish to be assessed on.  If you cannot do this you need to book the Beginners Course which includes practical training to avoid failing the experienced operators course.

If you don't hold a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence:

You will do a COMPETENCY course for driving on a worksite.

If you hold a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence you can do an Endorsement as well as the COMPETENCY course:

To complete an Endorsement course you must hold a current New Zealand Full Drivers Licence, for the weight of vehicle of your chosen endorsement:

• Class 1 - endorsements for vehicles with a Gross Laden Weight of up to 18,000 kg.
• Class 2 - required for an endorsement for vehicles with a Gross Laden Weight exceeding 18,000 kgs.
• WHEELS - with a W endorsement you can drive a registered and warranted special type of vehicle that isn't a forklift, passenger vehicle, tractor, fire engine, trade vehicle or vehicle recovery service vehicle on a public road.
• TRACKS - with a T endorsement you can drive a registered and warranted vehicle that runs on self-laying tracks on a public road.
• ROLLERS - with an R endorsement you can drive a special type of vehicle that runs on rollers on a public road.
