When you successfully complete this course you will recieve a Worksite Competency Certificate for the type of WTR machinery you are competent to drive. Those with a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence will also receive an Endorsement Certificate you can take to NZTA to update your Drivers Licence. The Unit Standards you are successful in passing will be applied to your NZQA Record of Achievement if you achieve the Endorsement Certificate.
This course consists of your theory being completed in a Zoom Meeting. After attending the Zoom meeting a time for your practical assessment will be organised.

(This will be booked as a separate booking). There is no additional charge for an experienced or beginner operator at an ASWEFA site. For practical assessment/beginner training at your company site the following additional charges apply - $50 + GST per machine (Wheels, Tracks, Rollers) for an experienced operator assessment, $580 + GST for a beginner operator practical training (group booking discounts available).
COVID restrictions requiring a mask to be worn by all, sanitising, and distancing restrictions will apply.

Pre-requisites for ALL STUDENTS:
No pre-requisites. If you have limited English speaking or understanding skills let us know when booking as it may affect your ability to pass the course and it may be best to wait until we reopen our site for the theory training. If you struggle with reading/writing let us know when booking as we have instructors who can assist with this at the theory portion of training when you come to do it at the time of practical training.
Pre-requisites for EXPERIENCED STUDENTS ONLY:
Those booking under the EXPERIENCED operators course need to be able to drive the machinery they wish to be assessed on. If you cannot do this you need to book the Beginners Course which includes practical training to avoid failing the experienced operators course.
If you don't hold a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence:
You will do a COMPETENCY course for driving on a worksite.
If you hold a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence you can do an Endorsement as well as the COMPETENCY course:
To complete an Endorsement course you must hold a current New Zealand Full Drivers Licence, for the weight of vehicle of your chosen endorsment:
- Class 1 - endorsements for vehicles with a Gross Laden Weight of up to 18,000 kg.
- Class 2 - required for an endorsment for vehicles with a Gross Laden Weight exceeding 18,000 kgs.
- WHEELS - with a W endorsement you can drive a registered and warranted special type of vehicle that isn't a forklift, passenger vehicle, tractor, fire engine, trade vehicle or vehicle recovery service vehicle on a public road.
- TRACKS - with a T endorsement you can drive a registered and warranted vehicle that runs on self-laying tracks on a public road.
- ROLLERS - with an R endorsement you can drive a special type of vehicle that runs on rollers on a public road.
